Iain is a seasoned creative director with core competencies in brand leadership, managing creative processes, production and marketing planning. He is the former Vice president Creative of Irving & Co, one of Vancouver’s long-standing brand and strategic marketing consultancies. Before moving to Canada in 2006, he was Director of Planning and Creative Director at Target Direct, the UK’s leading not for profit advertising agency, specializing in below-the-line techniques and brand management.

At Irving & Co, Iain has gained broad knowledge of the BC economy, working on branding and communications in business-to-business and business-to-consumer arenas.

In the consumer sector, Iain led the creative direction of a 12-month feasibility study carried out by Club Intrawest, culminating in a set of brand guidelines for a new resort product. He was lead creative on the creation of a new advertising campaign and brand review for Phantom Screens, North America’s leading retractable screen manufacturer based in Abbotsford BC. Iain worked alongside market researchers to test creative concepts, attended creative focus groups in Los Angeles, wrote and directed a new TV commercial and led the process that developed the organization’s corporate tagline.

In the business-to-business sector, Iain led a creative process to rebrand Sekure Controls Canada as HaloMetrics, developing a new mark, tagline and web framework. He created a new product name—Alluminate—for Mayne Coatings’ powder-coating process and originated new marketing materials for the sales force.

Iain’s has long experience in the UK’s not for profit and financial marketing sectors. He was the prime mover in a major overhaul of communications at British Heart Foundation’s fundraising department, where he created templates and branding guidance for over 200 staff at all levels. Iain also created a new brand for their events organization—Hearts First. Iain led a shift in media targeting that almost doubled BHF’s direct mail income and donorbase in two years.
